Getting There:
Getting there is by Air through Johannesburg or Windhoek, Namibia. Air Botswana has daily flights from Jo’burg, while Air Namibia flies 5 times in a week to Maun, your starting point.
Weather:
Botswana is a generally warm and a dry country for most the season. Rain is expected in the summer which is from November through to March, but this is not the best and ideal time for a game safari.
The classic safari season, encompassing the dry months, starts in March and continues to late October. Temperatures will fluctuate between the beginning and the end of the season. Warm to start with, and averaging 35 degrees centigrade, lowering to 18 degrees Celsius in June and July.
Clothing:
As you are going into a wildlife area please remember to bring neutral coloured clothing, e.g., khaki, green, sand colours, denim jeans are fine. Avoid red, pink, orange bright yellow and most of the neon’s.
Ponchos may be necessary in March and April as well late October and November

Health requirements
While Botswana is not a risky place to visit, certain precautions should be taken against Malaria, bilharzias and AIDS. Tourists entering Botswana from Southern Africa or western countries do not require inoculations, but vaccination certificates are necessary if you have recently been to a yellow fever zone.
Health and travel insurance is a requirement as we do not cover your medical expenses, in case of emergencies Planet Wilderness will Medi Vac you to the nearest Hospital while your medical/travel insurance takes care of the rest.
While we carry a comprehensive medical aid kit with us on safari, please be sure to bring a small medical kit of your own for those that take prescriptions. Do not forget your malaria tablets at home please. Insect repellent.
Entry Requirements
Visitors to Botswana must have a valid passport and visa if necessary. Visas are not required for Southern Africa, US, EU, and Common Wealth Passports.
It is worth checking with any Botswana embassy, Planet Wilderness, Air Botswana if you require any visa before you travel.
Currency:
Botswana currency is called PULA (Literally translating to rain or blessing) and is exchangeable as follows:
P1-OO = 100 THEBE.
US$1-00 = P 7-50

The above foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, Bureaus de change, and hotels.
Credit Cards:
Visa, MasterCard are accepted by a variety of outlets hotels and safari operators. We also accept traveller’s checks.
Electricity:
The power system in Botswana is 230V AC 50Hz. Both round and square plugs are used so bring adaptors for both.
Battery Charging on Safari: We carry 12V to 110V invertors as well as 12V to 220V invertors for your battery needs. Please bring adaptors compatible with your equipment.
